Nelson Mandela and Apartheid

I think Apartheid means Racial segregation policy of the government. Which means that Africans didn't have that much rights in there own country like the white people had there. One example would be that the African couldn't vote in till 1990.Nelson Mandela was a hero because he fought for unity and liberation

African Independence

The African Independence changed a lot. In 1957 the Goold Coast became a indepent conutry and after that it was name Ghana. Ghana was the first African country to have it's Independence. Nkrumah was the first prime minister of Ghana and then later became president of that country for life. Nkrumah had a lot of plans for Ghana he builded new road and school and had health plans too. .Even though Nkrumah had good intensions for the country it was hard for the economy to stay stable because all the plans he had for the country required a lot of money and Ghana did not have that much money in that time. Another country that couldn't get it's indepence that easily was Kenya. Kenya had to leader that where from Europe. In 1973 Kenya got it's Independce from the British. Kenyatta became president of Kenya but he died in 1978 and Daniel arap Moi became president after that he faced a lot of hard time while he was president of that country. Africa has change so much through out the year because a lot of countries got there indepence from the European countries and a lot of other countries had been formed too. If you compare both maps you see clearly that in the new Africa there are more countries then before.

9th Grade Review - Neolithic Revolution

The Neolithic Revolution was a turning point in human life. It was a turning point because because people use to be nomads and gathered between 20 to 30 people. They use to hunt for food. In about 10,000 BCE people began to cultivate crop. Work areas where divided between women and men and like always men always took the lead of the jobs. The villages where run by the council of the elders and some villages had chief elders. During war time some men would gain great warrior statues. After that there was social classes.

The European Union

The European Union is a system where 25 countries in Europe have united. The union of the European countries has been a good thing because when the USSR collapsed the only super power left was the US. Now the compete ion of the US is the European Union. In Jan.2002 the Eur's was present and now it's one of the leading currencies in the world. The European Union has 500 million citizens it has more then the US. The European Union will prevent any war in Europe due to this Union.

"The Right Stuff"

The Soviet Union and the US where competing to see who was the first person to go to space. At first the US was winning because they where building the spaceship and they had to build it several times because something would always come out wrong. The when they finally build the spaceship right the US decided to they wanted to send a monkey up to space first because they did not want no one dieing up in space. Then 2 day after they send the monkey that Soviet Union send a human up to space. It made the US look kinda bad because who sends a monkey and not a human. The scene that will help me remember the Soviet Union is when they where building the spaceship because that also reminds me of who was the first person to go to the moon.

Cuban Missile Crisis

The Cuba Missile Crisis took place in 1962 during the cold war. Basically during that time the Soviet Union was going to use nuclear weapons just so that Cuba wouldn't get invaded by that United States. The Soviet's didn't have missiles as powerful as the United States did back then. So Nikita Khrushchev had an idea of put missiles in Cuba. The reason why the Soviet Union relied on Cuba was because Cuba was scared that the US would invade Cuba again since they failed before. So Cuba approved that the Soviet's would build a secret Missile installation in Cuba. The US found out that they where building the secret place and then ordered a naval quarantine around Cuba. After all of that both countries sat down and negotiated even though there was a lot of tension between both countries. Finally the Soviets took there installations out of Cuba and return back to the Soviet Union.

Nato and the Warsaw Pact

The Nato was a pact between North America and European countries. This was a pact that benefited both continents because it was a mutual defense alliance. It most benefited Europe economically because right after the war ended Europe didn't have a stable economic system. That was call a marshall plan. It also helped because if one of the countries was attacked they would all have back up. The Warsaw pact mostly involved the Soviet Union and there Satellite countries. This pact was made right after the "Nato" pact. The Warsaw was a communist group. The Nato group was joined by 12 nations like United Kingdom, United States. This Group did not support the communist system.
